What is la profesa?

La Profesa is a historic Catholic church located in the center of Mexico City. Its full name is Templo de la Profesa de Jesús Nazareno. It was founded in 1591 by the Jesuits and underwent several renovations throughout the years. The church features a mixture of Baroque and Neoclassical styles and has a notable sacristy decorated with murals by the Mexican painter Miguel Cabrera. La Profesa is known for its rich history and cultural significance, having been the site of important events in Mexican history, such as the signing of the Treaty of Cordoba that ended the Mexican War for Independence.
